The Art of Shaving Shaving Products
Welcome to The Brotherhood of Shaving. Where shaving is not a chore to get through in the morning, it is a ritual that countless men have performed for centuries before you. Where a perfect shave, and all of the steps it encompasses, is a tradition you will hand down to your son, and he to his.
Since 1996, The Art of Shaving has sought to restore shaving to its former luxurious tradition. It all began when founders Eric Malka and Myriam Zaoui discovered the first step to the perfect shave in their kitchen. At the time, Eric was suffering from sensitive skin that shaving only seemed to aggravate. Myriam, with a background in the spa industry, Eastern medicine, and aromatherapy, whipped up a batch of soothing and protective pre-shave oil, using only botanical ingredients and essential oils. The difference was noticeable from his very first shave, and the two set out to share their secret.
To truly create the ideal shave, they went one step further. Or rather, three steps, creating The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave: Prepare, Lather Up, Shave, and Moisturize. By following these four essential steps, a man will experience a close, comfortable shave without discomfort, razor burn, ingrown hairs, or nicks and cuts. Each and every Art of Shaving product is formulated with quality ingredients and 100% pure essential oils, and without alcohol or synthetic dyes and fragrances.
Recognizing that the perfect shave would require a top-of-the-line razor, The Art of Shaving teamed up with Gillette to design a collection of highly engineered and high performance razors. Hearkening back to the glory days of a full service barbershop shave, the company also reintroduced the shaving brush, available in an array of finishes and bristles, and all crafted by hand. And soon, the line expanded to include skin care, hair care, and fragrance, all created with the same determination to bring high quality products to men without any fuss.
In addition to the right products, the experts at The Art of Shaving would like to offer some additional tips on achieving the perfect shave. First, always shave during or after a hot shower; warm water is best for opening the pores. A wet shave is the closest shave - and also provides deep exfoliation. Slip on Pre-Shave Oil for a protective layer against irritation, then apply Shaving Cream with a brush to soften the beard. When shaving, use short strokes in the direction of hair growth, and follow against the grain for the closest shave. Be sure to see whether the hair on your neck grows in the same direction as the hair on your face; if not, adjust accordingly to shave with the grain. Finally, follow with Moisturizer to soothe and protect.
Welcome to the Perfect Shave. Consider yourself initiated.
