Having a passion for botany and the natural order of things, the Muhlethaler family opened the doors to the Laboratories Multaler in 1954. This family affair eventually became the Yonka skin care line known worldwide today. In the beginning, the Muhlethaler family focused on the aromas of the plant world. The essential oils derived from the plants, charged with energy from the sun, became the basis for the breakthrough discovery "Quintessence" - a combination of 5 essential oils from the Mediterranean, and the building block for all Yonka skin care products.

Even the Yon-ka name has roots in nature. "Yon" is a river of living, purifying water. Pronouncing "yon" sounds similar to the word "ion," which is a particle of energy. The word "ka" refers to the eternal part of every being in Egyptian mythology. These two words combined represent a constant state of rejuvenation and renewal in perfect harmony.
