CNN Report Highlights Important Data Related to Sunscreens Ingredients, performance all part of CNN report on sunscreen performance
DALLAS July 8, 2007 A recent CNN report on sunscreen performance highlighted important considerations for consumers. According to CNN's analysis, 4 out of 5 sunscreens tested don't adequately protect. It also mentions the Environmental Working Group, a Washington-based non-profit, that released an investigation of nearly 1000 brand-name sunscreens that may contain harmful chemicals.
When it comes to choosing a sunscreen, it's important to remember that ingredients DO make a difference. Sunscreens that contain zinc oxide, a natural ingredient, are less likely to cause reactions in sensitive skin. Zinc oxide has been used for years to treat diaper rash, and it has proven safe even for infants. Zinc oxide is also recognized by the FDA as an ingredient proven to provide broad spectrum protection from both UV-B (burning) rays and UV-A (aging) rays.
EltaMD sunscreens are formulated with zinc oxide and offer one of the highest percentages of zinc oxide available. There are six unique formula, each designed to address a particular sun protection need. All EltaMD sunscreens are sensitivity free and fragrance free. |
