The Bursuit of Beautiful Skin
Our Town Brookline - August 2007
“Who doesn’t want to look their very best? Even people of ancient times knew they could raise their beauty quotient with a little assistance. Cleopatra bathed in donkey’s milk, the English Powdered their faces, wore wigs and applied tine decorative decals in the shapes of hearts or spades on their faces. We are not much different than men and women of those eras. Who doesn’t want to look younger, healthier, and every bit as beautiful as personally, ethically and financially possible? Bota-Peptides, a new non-toxic alternative to Botox, is one of the many new treatments in esthetics today - and it’s a treatment that can be done at home.
You may have heard of Peptides. They’ve been clinically proven to deliver results comparable to Botox. G.M. Collin, a Canadian-based Skincare line prominent in the U.S., clinically studied the actions of its Bota-Peptide 5 formulation. After a 28-day course of treatment, participants showed significant visible reduction in depth, size, and number or wrinkles including the forehead, “crows feet”, and lines between the eyebrows.
Dermo-corrective skincare is based on chemistry. How a product works comes from the efficacy of the individual ingredients as well as how well they work together. G.M. Collin found five petides, in particular, to be clinically effective when formulated together.
1. Argeline with Matrixyl 3000 - gives a Botox like action and a muscle relaxing effect.
2. Lip-Arginyl Tyrosine 0 naturally occurring di-peptide stimulates neuromediators in the skin that sends messages of well-being and muscular relaxation.
3. Soya Oligopeptides - revitalize metabolic activity, which both restructures and increases the density of the dermis, allowing the skin to experience a plumping effect.
4. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide - stimulates collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis.
5. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 - rebalances skin at the cellular level.
Additionally, marine extract, Kombucha tea extracts and amino acid make contributions. The treatment contains no toxins, does not hurt to apply, lasts several months and is, comparatively speaking, affordable.
On the other hand, Botox is a drug made from a potentially fatal toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. That’s the toxin that causes food poisoning called botulism. In small does, Botox can be used to temporarily remove facial wrinkles. It is administered through injection, and paralyzes particular muscles or blocks certain nerves. Three or four months later you will need another treatment. In addition, you may experience pain at the injection site, headache, stomach-ache, flu-type symptoms, and drooping eyelids. IF you are pregnant or breastfeeding, Botox is not recommended.
As we progress through the science of longevity and beauty, more and more options will be brought to the market. Analyzing your personal goals and consulting a licensed esthetician are the first steps on the road to more beautiful skin.
True beauty comes from the inside and reflects on the outside; it’s divers and variable! But a little outside help never hurts! |
