One of the active ingredients in Jane Iredale Absence is hydrated silica, which is a capsule filled with seaweed compounds. Heat and pressure release the seaweeds so that they can interact with the sebaceous glands to help control over-active oil production. This process also helps to regulate the pH balance of the skin. Because hydrated silica can hold seven times its molecular weight, the now empty shell can absorb excess sebum without affecting moisture on the skin. By absorbing the oil, it forms a barrier between the skin and the makeup so that the wearer can stay matte all day. Also formulated with titanium dioxide and micronized zinc, Jane Iredale Absence 2 offers broad spectrum SPF 15.
