Our new innovations bridge clinically superior antioxidants with pharmaceutical grade mineral makeup in a color palette as rich as the nature-inspired colors they are modeled after.
Because our line utilizes the best technology available, we have eliminated some of the problems common with other mineral makeup technology. Here are just a few problems we are delighted to have solved:
• Pressed minerals that crumble
• Pressed base that does not provide full coverage
• No liquid mineral base
• Lipstick that does not hold its shape
• Lipstick without lasting wearability
• Loose base with too much shine
• Pencils tips that are too soft
• Outdated packaging
• Outdated color palette
Until now, makeup was either good for the skin, OR it provided the industry's hottest colors and richest hues. Glominerals offers both, providing fashionable colors and treatment benefits work together beautifully!
Women are conscious about their skin at a younger age, and all women value color trends. By incorporating pharmaceutical treatment benefits and a brilliant color palette, we are able to provide flawless coverage and promote healthy skin with a mineral cosmetic that appeals to a wider age range.
Glominerals application tips:
Choosing a mineral base: Always prep clean skin with a moisturizer before beginning makeup application. Next, choose the best formulation for the client's skin type. gloPressed base is recommended for all skin types and conditions. gloLoose base is ideal for skin requiring more camouflage. gloProtective oil-free liquid base is a fabulous alternative to traditional liquid foundation for clients who are not comfortable working with pressed or loose minerals, but desire the benefits of mineral makeup. We recommend matte finish for normal to oily skin and satin finish for normal to dry skin.
Color Matching:
A crucial step in the application process is selecting the correct base color. The best way to match a base formulation to the skin is to apply gloLoose, gloPressed or gloProtective liquid base vertically on jaw line. This allows the artist to see how the color blends with the cheek and neck line. When matching a rosacea skin type or a client with discoloration on the face, match the color to the neck skin tone, choosing a golden tone to neutralize red. This process enables timely application of several colors until best shade is determined. While color matching does not take a lot of time, it helps prevent the need to reapply a new color to the entire face in the event an incorrect color is chosen.
gloPressed base:
Apply with the ultra brush or finishing sponge for medium to full coverage. The powder brush will give a light to medium coverage and is ideal for flawless skin tones. Follow base application with gloMoist hydration mist to set minerals and to deliver hydration to the skin for a smoother appearance.
gloLoose base:
A little goes a long way. When applying with a sponge, use very little product, and add more as needed. Achieve a medium to full coverage with the ultra brush or powder brush. Layer gloLoose base as needed for intense camouflage. Follow base application with gloMoist hydration mist to set minerals and to deliver hydration.
gloProtective oil-free liquid base (original matte & sating finish):
Glominerals is pleased to be the first company to have a liquid mineral base formulated with vitamins and antioxidants. Both oil-free base formulations, original matte and satin finish, function as foundation, powder, concealer, UV protection and provide antioxidant benefits.
selecting between original matte or satin finish:
Original matte and satin finish formulas both offers a nice slip for easy application. The matte formulation dries down more quickly and provides a flawless, matte finish for normal to oily skin types. The satin finish dries down to a flawless dewy finish and is preferred by normal to dry or mature skin types.
applying gloProtective liquid base:
Apply gloProtective liquid base with fingers or the finishing sponge. Start with a minimal amount of product and add more as needed. We recommend dividing the face into six sections. Apply a small amount of product to one section of the face and work into skin in downward motions, blending until coverage is consistent. Select the next section of the face for application and repeat this process until an even application is achieved over the entire face. Remember, both formulations are concentrated and very expansive.
gloMatte finishing powder:
This formulation is ideal for minimizing any unwanted shine or setting gloProtective oil-free liquid base for clients who prefer a matte finish. Apply gloMatte finishing powder with the flocked sponge for spot touch-ups. An all-over application with the ultra brush is ideal for oily skin types.
gloConcealer - under eye and gloCamouflage oil-free:
These formulations offer unsurpassed camouflage coverage with treatment benefits. Both formulations can be applied with the concealer brush. A gentle application with fingers is fine too.
We recommend the following skin tone and shade combinations:
golden - warm and olive skin tones or to neutralize red pigment
beige - light to medium cool skin tones or to neutralize blue pigment
natural - for peach and medium skin tones or to help cover hyperpigmentation
dark under eye circles / facial lines around nose & mouth:
The key to camouflaging under eye circles or liens around the nose and mouth is to ensure the areas are properly hydrated. Insufficient moisture levels will accentuate fine lines and crepey skin conditions. Once skin is properly moisturized, we recommend applying gloConcealer using fingers or the camouflage brush. The camouflage brush will provide more coverage and control. To a apply, press and pat product into the designated area, than the client's skin tone, we suggest choosing a color shade lighter than the skin tone.
melasma, hyperpigmentation, port wine stains or blemishes:
For heavier coverage we recommend gloCamouflage, which hides almost any visible color variance without creating a caking makeup look. Always use the camouflage brush, as oils in the skin can transfer and dilute the pigment when fingers are used to apply this formulation. Apply gloCamouflage only to the area where skin is discolored. Begin with a small amount of product and layer coverage as needed. Feather edges to blend. Applying product to too large of an area can create a halo effect. For extreme camouflage, follow gloCamouflage application with gloLoose base. For medium to full coverage, follow gloCamouflage application with gloPressed base.
scars:
Atrophic, or sunken scars, must be built to skin level with layers of the gloConcealer or gloCamouflage. Apply each layer with the camouflage brush, allowing the layer to set completely before applying another layer. For areas sunken too deep to bring up to skin level, apply a lighter shade to the sunken area and feather. For raised scars, applying a darker shade will help make the area appear less raised. Always feather the application, being careful not to extend the camouflage too far beyond the scar. To finish, complete the camouflage with an even application of gloLoose base for skin with sunken scars or gloPressed base for skin with raised scars.
gloDust 24K:
Dust on lightly with the powder brush or fan brush for subtle shimmer. Apply a small amount to eyes to highlight. Mix gloDust with lotion to add shimmer to the body. gloDust can even be added to hair gel.
gloBronze:
Adding bronzer to any application is a great way to warm up the face and add a healthy glo. Apply sunkiss or sunlight gloBronze where the sun might naturally strike the face, around hairline, on the nose, cheekbones, temples, chin, plus the lightest touch on eyes or directly under the brow to accentuate the brow arch. Bronzers play a big part in creating a healthy, just sunkissed appearance. A light shimmer to the lids will brighten the eyes, and a touch of gloGloss will finish the look. To enhance the cheek bones, apply gloBronze as a contour on the cheeks and jaw area first, and then add some blush to highlight the cheek area.
round faces:
To help down play a round face shape, dust bronzer into cheek hollows, high on the temples next to the hair line and faintly under the chin. Highlight along the cheekbones. Complementing the application with blush is optional, but be wary of dusting it onto the apples of the cheeks. This type of blush application may emphasize a round face.
oval faces:
Blend bronzer into cheek hollows and highlight cheekbones near the eyes. Complement the application by adding gloBlush onto the apples of the cheeks.
heart-shaped faces:
To balance this face shape, highlight the chin, bronze the temples and dust bronzer into the cheek hollows.
square faces:
Highlight the central strip from the center of the forehead to the chin. Bronze the sides of the forehead next to the hairline and faintly bronze the square extremities of the jaw line. Apply gloBlush onto the apples of the cheeks to finish the look.
eyes:
gloEye shadows, gloCream eye liners, glo eye pencils, gloLash lengthening mascaras & gloLash thickener and conditioner
prepping the eyes for color application:
Proper moisturization is critical to maintaining youthful, vibrant eyes. Once eyes are properly hydrated, conceal any noticeable under eye circles using gloConcealer (see gloConcealer under eye application tips). Next, cover the eye area, including the entire lid with gloPressed, gloLoose or gloProtective liquid base as part of the over all base application on the face. This technique also provides UV protection for the eyelids. Applying base to the eye area and on the lids acts as a primer to create a more polished look an camouflage any discolorations or visible broken capillaries.
eye shapes:
Different methods of applying base, contour, accent, highlight and liner help enhance specific eye shapes. The following techniques are detailed according to eye shape. Please refer to color combination chart at the end of this section for color suggestions to incorporate into the application below, begin by applying the base color from the lash line to the brow. Finish each application with gloLash lengthening mascara.
average: Apply contour along lash line, then along crease to for a V-shape, Blend the application. Create a wedge at the outer corner using an accent color. Line upper and lower lashes.
wide set: The emphasis is on the inside half of the eye above the crease. Apply contour shade along lash line from inside corner out, then back along crease to inner corner. Add an accent color in a small wedge at outer corner, being careful not to extend beyond the edge. Line upper lashes from corner to corner, adding a little lift at the outside. Line lower lashes and gently smudge.
close set: The emphasis is on the outer half of the eye. Apply contour shade along lash line and in along crease, starting above outer edge of iris, extending beyond outside corner and up. Blend the application. Make a large wedge at outer corner with the accent color. Line upper lashes from inside edge or iris past outside corner of eye. Emphasize mascara application on outer lashes.
deep set: The key is to lessen the shadows on the inside corner and make the brown bone area look less recessed. Apply more base color at the inside corner of the lid. Apply contour shade out along lash line and in along crease, stopping just above inner edge of iris. Add a little more color under lower lashes from inside edge of iris to outer corner. Add accent color lightly along crease, blending well. Line upper lashes from inside corner to just past outside corner, lower lashes from outside corner in to just below pupil, gently smudging.
prominent lids: The key is to contour below the crease to draw attention away from how much lid is exposed and to emphasize upper lash line. Add contour shade over entire lid socket, blending carefully. Apply accent color along lash line from inside corner to slightly past outside corner, then in below crease instead of along it. Line upper lashes from inside corner out, with the line getting thicker at the outside corner. Line lower lashes, then gently smudge upper and lower liner application.
hooded lids: The key is to use color to make it seem as though more of the lid is showing. Apply contour shade on lid from corner to corner, extending slightly above crease, and under lower lashes, working from outside corner to inside edge of iris. Apply accent color close to lash line above center of pupil and blend outward. Line upper lashes corner to corner, lower lashes from outside corner to inside of iris.
asian: Treat the brow bone with as much importance as the lid. Apply contour shade to inner and outer thirds of brow bone. Apply accent color along lash line corner to corner then in alon and just over crease. Blend accent color back and forth along crease with brush. Apply thin line of defining liner above upper lashes from corner to corner. Line below lower lashes from outside corner in just past contour color. Gently smudge both lines. To make eyes appear more open, apply a highlight color on the lid.
gloEye shadow combinations for special styling:
While it is possible to achieve countless makeup looks by first identifying the client's eye shape and then applying colors from the color chart (at the end of this section) accordingly, clients sometimes request specific stylized looks. Two of the most commonly requested looks we have encountered are smoky eyes and a natural look.
For a smoky look start with mink or mahogany, depending if the client has a brown or plum undertone, and add moonlight at the corner of eyes and along the lash line to add more definition to lashes. Add harvest on the eye crease area and bamboo below the brows. Apply a black or charcoal pencil on top and bottom lash lines, smudge and finish with the black gloLash lengthening mascara.
For a natural look on any skin tone, try applying haze on the lid with a slight application of stone on the crease, with a little bit of black-brown or espresso the lid with twig as the contour. For a lighter eye, try water lily on the lid and harvest or orchid as contour colors.
Always remember, shadow colors should complement eye colors. Browns and plums accentuate light eyes, and greens and blues tend to highlight darker eyes. Any gloDust colors can be added for more sheen and shimmer.
Finish the eye with a nourishing application of gloLash mascara. Black is best for darker hair (black, brunette, dark brown), and for blonde or auburn hair, we suggest black-brown. For fuller lashes, use gloLash thickener and conditioner first. A light application works well for subtle enhancements, and a heavier application provides a fuller lash look.
eye liner application:
Eye liners accentuate the lash line. Use the liner/brow brush to apply deep gloEye shadow colors at the lash line, and to apply gloCream eye liner. The medium-soft point of the glo eye pencils also offers flawless liner application without tugging at the skin. All liner applications can be perfected and blended with the blending tip of the liner/brow brush for a more polished liner application.
For a natural look, apply liner before gloEye shadow. This will soften and blend the liner. For more definition try black or black/brown glo eye pencils and espresso or ebony gloCream eye liners. Navy or forest pencils add vibrant color to dark eyes and make them stand out more.
Most women want large, round eyes. Lining the top lid and making the line slightly fuller at the outer corner of the eye can create this look. When lining narrow eyes, emphasize the outer portion of the top lid, fading into a lighter application toward the inside of the eye. Lining underneath the eye, only the outer corners, with a thick, soft line will also make eyes appear more open. To make wide-set eyes appear closer, line the top lid with a softer stroke, focusing more color on the inner portion of the eye rather than on the outer corners. To makeup close-set eyes appear farther apart, apply liner to the outer corners of the eyes.
brow shaping:
Eye brows frame the eyes and create an expression for the entire face. A well-groomed, well-defined brow is flattering to any eye shape. Brows can be filled in to cover a bald patch or to simply define the brow shape. Always use feathery strokes, whether utilizing gloEye shadow applied with the liner/brow brush or the eye pencils. Blend carefully, removing any visually prominent lines. The brow should extend slightly past the outer corner of the eye.
Finish the brows by combing them. If brows are too prominent, simply apply a small amount of gloPressed or gloMatte finishing powder over the top, and comb brows again to remove any excess powder.
gloLash thickener & conditioner:
Priming the lashes with gloLash thickener and conditioner gives the lashes a fuller appearance, and helps to lengthen lashes. This nourishing product can be used on lashes for any eye shape and makeup look. Thin or short lashes can be dramatically enhanced with a generous application of this product prior to applying gloLash lengthening mascara.
lips:
The easiest way to update any makeup look is by changing makeup application on the lips. Always maintain the lips with rich moisture and nutrients. For this we recommend regular use of the gloMoist lip treatment. In choosing a lip color application, first identify any challenges and determine the desired outcome or lip shape desired by the client.
wrinkles lips: The key to making wrinkled lips appear smooth is to use gloGloss to reflect light out of the lines. Begin by lining and fill lips in completely to prevent gloLip stick and gloGloss from migrating into fine lines and wrinkles. Apply product toward the inner part of the mouth to avoid color bleeding outside of lines.
drooping lips: Make drooping lips appear youthful by lifting the outer corners. Using the centerline of the lips, draw a line upward at the outer corners, shape the lips and fill.
thin lips: To make thin lips look fuller, outline just above the natural lip line and fill with glo lip pencil. Finish with a generous gloLip stick application. To generate a plumping effect, apply a frosty or iridescent gloGloss in the center of the bottom lip. Avoid dark or dull colors.
uneven lips: Balance an uneven lip shape by applying gloCamouflage to lips and evening out lip shape with lip liner. Fill lips with gloLip stick or gloGloss of choice.
flat upper lip: Make a flat upper lip seem larger by using gloCamouflage to hide the natural lip line. Create a curved shape with lip liner above the natural lip line. Next, powder the lips and add additional definition with a full liner application. Finish by filling lip with gloLip Stick or gloGloss.
full lips: In the age of collagen and radiance injections, this is rarely a visual downfall. However, to make lips appear smaller, fill the inside of the lips. Be careful not to extend the lip line. Avoid light, bright or luminescent colors.
oversized upper lip: Make an oversized upper lip appear smaller by lining the inside of the upper lip and the outside of the lower lip to create balance. Only use gloGloss or luminescent gloLip stick colors on the bottom lip.
oversized bottom lip: To balance an oversized bottom lip, line the inside of the bottom lip and the outside of the top lip. Avoid using gloGloss or luminescent gloLip stick colors on the bottom lip.
gloGloss is ideal for enhancing lip size where desired, and is ideal for hiding any lip imperfections. gloLip stick provides a long-wearing application in a variety of colors. Darker colors look great on fuller lips, while lighter colors help balance a smaller lip and can enhance over all lip size.
color matching:
When camouflaging an extreme skin condition, the first step is to select a base color that will match the patient's non-affected skin tone. Patients with rosacea will likely be matched at the neck or chest area, whereas acneic or hyperpigmented patients can generally be matched at the jaw line. For full camouflage, we recommend gloPressed base or gloLoose base in combination with the gloCamouflage and/or gloConcealer which coordinate with the base color selected. For heavier coverage, begin with the gloProtective liquid base and proceed with gloLoose base once gloConcealer and gloCamouflage have been applied.
camouflage:
After color matching the patient, even out the skin tone by camouflaging skin discolorations and areas where the skin condition is prominent by applying gloCamouflage and gloConcealer. We suggest stippling the product on the affected area with the camouflage brush until the desired level of coverage is achieved. Be sure to feather the edges to avoid creating a line of demarcation around the camouflaged area. When incorporating the gloProtective liquid base, apply the liquid base prior to gloCamouflage and gloConcealer.
base application:
Next, apply the gloPressed or gloLoose base of choice with the ultra brush using a stippling stroke. To blend or for heavier coverage, follow with the finishing sponge. Allow a few minutes for the base to warm up on the client's skin. To accelerate this process, a fine mist of the gloMoist hydration mist can be spritzed lightly over the face. Once the camouflage process is complete, color can be applied to the face just as it would be applied to a client without a prominent skin condition.
safety:
gloMinerals is safe for post microdermabrasion, chemical peel, post facial and post surgery camouflage. This skin nourishing collection of products works effectively to help cover bruising, pigmentation, scarring and general skin discolorations. It is common to achieve a dramatic camouflage without using an extensive amount of product because of the rich pigments in glominerals formulations. The antioxidant blends and pharmaceutical grade natural minerals allow skin to heal and help improve the condition of the skin with regular application. When camouflaging post surgery skin, the treating physician should consult as to when skin is ready for mineral makeup application.
