Daily Microfoliant vs Daily Superfoliant: what changes?

Daily Microfoliant and Daily Superfoliant take the same basic place in a routine: after cleansing, mix half a teaspoon with water, massage for one minute and rinse. The reason to switch is the formula. Microfoliant lists salicylic acid alongside rice ingredients and papain; Superfoliant lists charcoal, niacinamide, malic and lactic acids, plus enzymes.

The useful difference

Choose Microfoliant for listed salicylic acid, rice and colloidal oatmeal. Choose Superfoliant for charcoal, niacinamide and malic/lactic acids. Both contain papain and use a one-minute rinse-off routine. Their $69 bottles contain different amounts: 2.6 oz of Microfoliant or 2.0 oz of Superfoliant at the 23 October US check.

Same step, different ingredient route

Both are rinse-off powders with a one-minute massage, rice bran extract, rice starch and papain. Microfoliant adds listed salicylic acid, colloidal oatmeal and allantoin. Superfoliant instead lists charcoal powder, niacinamide, malic acid, lactic acid, subtilisin and lipase. If salicylic acid is the reason you use Microfoliant, Superfoliant is a formula change rather than a like-for-like replacement.

The practical switch

If you are buying Microfoliant for salicylic acid, stay with it: Superfoliant's published formula does not list that ingredient. If you want charcoal and niacinamide with malic and lactic acids, Superfoliant is the relevant switch. Microfoliant lists grapefruit peel oil; Superfoliant lists bitter orange, lavender, lemon, rosemary and sage oils.

Practical purchase and routine differences

At the 23 October 2026 US check, Microfoliant's 2.6 oz bottle was $69 ($26.54/oz); Superfoliant's 2.0 oz bottle was $69 ($34.50/oz). The photographed Microfoliant 1.4 oz option was $49. Dermalogica advises beginning Microfoliant every other day if new to exfoliation or sensitive, and Superfoliant on alternate days for more sensitive skin.
