Daily Milkfoliant vs Daily Microfoliant: what changes?

Daily Milkfoliant and Daily Microfoliant are both water-activated powders used for a one-minute rinse-off step. Milkfoliant makes a creamy lather and puts oat, coconut and hyaluronic-acid ingredients in the formula. Microfoliant makes a creamy paste and explicitly lists salicylic acid with rice ingredients. The distinction matters if you are switching for a particular ingredient rather than simply staying with a powder.

Which formula fits the switch?

Choose Milkfoliant for an oat-and-coconut formula that makes a milky lather. Choose Microfoliant for its explicitly listed salicylic acid and rice-bran formula. Both list papain and rice starch and use a one-minute rinse-off step. Their 2.6 oz bottles were each $69 at the 23 October US check.

Milk texture or listed salicylic acid?

Both powders have rice starch and papain, and both are mixed in wet hands. Milkfoliant also lists multiple oat ingredients, coconut fruit extract and hyaluronic acid, and its directions call the result a creamy lather. Microfoliant lists colloidal oatmeal and allantoin too, but its defining difference in this pair is explicitly named salicylic acid. Its directions call the mixture a creamy paste.

If salicylic acid is the deciding ingredient

Microfoliant explicitly lists salicylic acid. Milkfoliant does not list it as a separate ingredient, even though Dermalogica describes a fruit-based AHA/BHA blend in that product. If you want salicylic acid specifically, Microfoliant is the clear match between these two; if the oat-and-coconut blend appeals more, Milkfoliant offers that with the same powder-and-rinse format.

Using and buying the two powders

Both instruct a half teaspoon, a one-minute gentle massage and a thorough rinse. Dermalogica advises every-other-day starts for Microfoliant when you are sensitive or new to exfoliation; its Milkfoliant page describes regular daily use. At the 23 October 2026 US check, both 2.6 oz bottles were $69, while Microfoliant also offered a 1.4 oz bottle for $49.
