Which EltaMD sunscreen? UV Clear, AOX Elements and Sport compared
Start with where and when you will use it. UV Clear SPF 46 is an everyday face formula with niacinamide; UV AOX Elements SPF 50 is a tinted mineral face sunscreen; UV Sport SPF 50+ is the larger body sunscreen for active days. These three cover different jobs, so tint, sunscreen actives and water resistance are more useful starting points than the SPF number alone.
Choose by the job it needs to do
For everyday face use with 5% niacinamide, start with UV Clear SPF 46. For a tinted mineral face formula without listed niacinamide, compare UV AOX Elements. For outdoor body use and 80-minute water resistance, choose UV Sport SPF 50+. The current 3 oz Sport tube costs less per ounce than either 1.7 oz face formula.

If you want mineral actives or avoid niacinamide
AOX Elements is the all-mineral-active option among these three. Its carton lists titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as sunscreen actives. UV Clear and UV Sport also include organic sunscreen filters. The full AOX Elements and Sport lists do not name niacinamide; UV Clear specifically includes it.
AOX Elements adds tint and includes dimethicone, sodium hyaluronate, vitamin E ingredients and canola oil. Sport has a different base with isopropyl palmitate, beeswax and hydrogenated castor oil. These are distinct formulas, not just different SPF strengths.
For a swim or an active day
Choose the water-resistance rating that fits the activity and follow the reapplication directions. AOX Elements gives 40 minutes; Sport gives 80 minutes. UV Clear directs you to use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.

Size and value
