Intellishade Original vs Matte: two tinted SPF 45 formulas

Original and Matte are both 1.7 oz tinted broad-spectrum SPF 45 moisturizers. Revision describes Original as more moisturizing with a natural radiance and Matte as lower-shine for combination or oily skin. The formulas, including the sunscreen-active percentages, differ.

Choose by the finish you want to wear

Pick Original for a more moisturizing radiant look, or Matte when visible shine is the main concern. Both provide sheer tint and mixed mineral/chemical SPF 45. At the official US store both 1.7 oz versions were $89 at the check, so price and SPF number do not separate them.

Same SPF label, different actives

Original lists Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, Titanium Dioxide 3.5% and Zinc Oxide 3%. Matte lists Octinoxate 5.5%, Octisalate 3.5%, Titanium Dioxide 4% and Zinc Oxide 3%. Both combine chemical and mineral sunscreen actives. TruPhysical is the separate all-mineral tinted SPF 45 choice.

The finish comes from different bases

Original's inactive list includes jojoba esters, beeswax, several emollient esters and squalane. Matte's list instead includes cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate and silica alongside emollients and squalane. Revision positions Original for normal-to-dry skin and Matte for combination or oily skin.

Both have a sheer tint, which can look different across complexions. A matte finish does not mean Matte is oil-free; Revision uses that term for its separate Clear products.
